Konami Arcade Games has announced its sponsorship of the '2nd National High School Mahjong Championship' (hereinafter referred to as 'High School Mahjong'), hosted by The Asahi Shimbun and starting in July 2026.
High School Mahjong is a tournament where high school students from across Japan compete in two-person teams, aiming to become the national champion in mahjong, a healthy mind sport that requires a balance of concentration, observation, memory, judgment, logical thinking, patience, perspective, sensitivity, and courage.
Konami Arcade Games resonates with the philosophy of the championship and will contribute to its development by providing its Japan Professional Mahjong League-certified mobile game, 'Mahjong Fight Club Sp,' as the official app for the tournament.
The second edition of the tournament will newly include qualifiers in the Kyushu region. The regional qualifying rounds will be conducted using apps including 'Mahjong Fight Club Sp,' while the main tournament and finals will feature both app-based matches and matches using physical tiles on fully automatic tables.
Additionally, Kazunori Takizawa will attend the semifinals on Friday, August 14, and Mari Takamiya will attend the finals on Saturday, August 15, as commentators.
