Sees Factory Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Antonio Kamiya), a publisher specializing in watch-related magazines and Mook books, operates the watch brand OUTLINE, which draws inspiration from the aesthetics of vintage watches from the 1940s to 1960s.

The company has now announced the 'Military Type1950,' its first new military-style watch since August last year. Sales have begun on OUTLINE's official direct sales website, as well as at select watch retailers including Chic Tack, Loft, On Time (known for Marui), and Muv.

【About the Military Type1950】

The all-new 'Military Type1950' collection is the second release in the three-hand military style series, following the existing Military Type1940.

The original Type1940, as the name suggests, was inspired by British Army 'Dirty Dozen' watches and German Air Force 'B-Uhren' from the 1940s, faithfully recreated with manual-winding movements. In contrast, the new model takes design cues from military timepieces produced for the US Air Force between the 1950s and 1960s by brands such as Waltham, Bulova, and Elgin.

The design faithfully reproduces the era's legibility-focused aesthetics—such as bold Arabic numerals and arrow-shaped second hands—while preserving a retro charm. Additionally, with a compact 36mm case diameter, it pairs exceptionally well with fashion.

Beyond its vintage-inspired appeal, another standout feature of this model is its second hand. For the first time in an OUTLINE watch, it features the Seiko-owned 'TMI Caliber VH31,' an exceptionally rare movement equipped with a sweep second function. Despite being a quartz watch, the second hand moves continuously like a mechanical watch, creating a smooth sweeping motion.

The price is set at a special rate of ¥39,600 including tax—under ¥40,000—making its high cost-performance ratio a major selling point, alongside its design and functional appeal.
