JM Integral (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Taishi Izumi), a company dedicated to supporting regional healthcare, has completed the 'Project for Building a Sustainable Night-Duty System for Medical Institutions Using ICT' as part of the 'Yamaguchi Prefecture Digital Implementation Model Creation Project.' The project aimed to connect multiple medical institutions in Iwakuni City via an ICT network, allowing physicians at core hospitals to support night-duty operations at partner institutions through online consultations. The trial focused on inpatient care and initial emergency outpatient care during night shifts. Over the four-month period, the online response rate for initial emergency outpatient care reached up to 85%, confirming the feasibility of implementing online consultations in a short period and their effectiveness in reducing the burden on physicians.

Through this project, it was confirmed that online consultations can be an effective method for reducing the burden on physicians in initial emergency outpatient care, and that under certain conditions, some night-time inpatient care can also be handled remotely. Looking ahead, the Iwakuni City Medical Center Physicians Association Hospital has been conducting online consultations for initial emergency care for adults since April 2026.
