Erisgood, operated by Starcraft Co., Ltd. (HQ: Toshima-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Daigo Nakakura), conducted a survey on electricity and gas switching among 324 residents in the TEPCO area. The results show that while 84.8% want to lower their utility bills, only 6.7% have actually compared options in the last year. Comparing those who have switched with those considering it revealed a 38% gap in perception regarding the switching process. By analyzing the psychology of those who want to act but cannot, versus the reality of 146 people who have already switched, three major barriers were identified. Key findings include: 84.8% want to save but only 6.7% compared options; the biggest barrier is 'not knowing if it will really be cheaper' (65.2%); and 86.5% of those considering a switch want a 'monthly bill simulation.' Erisgood points out the 'Information Barrier,' 'Process Barrier,' and 'Sense of Security Barrier,' advising that rather than worrying about subsidies, checking one's own usage is the first step toward improving household finances.
