Sensiphia Inc. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Tohru Saito; hereinafter "the Company") will exhibit at the 'Greenhouse Horticulture & Plant Factory Expo 2026 (GPEC)', held at Tokyo Big Sight from Wednesday, July 15 to Friday, July 17, 2026.

At this exhibition, the Company will publicly unveil for the first time the prototype of its proprietary soil moisture sensor, scheduled for commercialization next spring. The sensor employs a unique SFDT method, applying RF (radio frequency) measurement technology, enabling stable measurement even in porous substrates where conventional sensors have struggled. It is also less affected by changes in EC (electrical conductivity) or salinity, maintaining stable measurement accuracy over long-term use.

At the booth, in addition to the prototype display, the Company will conduct moisture content measurement demonstrations using three types of substrates—rockwool, coconut coir, and potting soil—and introduce verification initiatives conducted at the cultivation sites of professional growers "Takumi," who possess advanced cultivation techniques and extensive expertise.

1. Background of Participation

Water management in agriculture is a critical factor affecting yield, quality, and stable production. However, it is difficult to assess the moisture conditions inside soil or substrates from the outside, and in many cases, farmers must rely on experience and intuition.

In particular, substrates widely used in greenhouse horticulture, such as rockwool and coconut coir, have high porosity and experience salinity fluctuations due to fertilization, making stable measurement with conventional soil moisture sensors a longstanding challenge.

The Company is developing a soil moisture sensor to address these issues by integrating IIJ's long-standing communication and IoT technologies with Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation's (hereinafter "Sony") RF and sensing technologies. The goal is to visualize moisture conditions within soil and substrates, providing new options for agricultural operations.

2. Exhibition Content

At our booth, we will debut the prototype of our soil moisture sensor and conduct live demonstrations of its measurement performance.

Our sensor has been validated through real-world testing at "Takumi" growers' sites, with on-site feedback directly incorporated into product development. We will also showcase actual use cases from cultivation environments at the booth.
