Major Domestic Semiconductor Manufacturer Adopts Solaris's Worm-Type In-Pipe Robot 'Sooha®'

Solaris Inc., which specializes in the development and provision of artificial muscles and soft robots, has announced the introduction of its worm-type in-pipe inspection robot, 'Sooha,' to a major domestic semiconductor manufacturer.

Since February 2026, the manufacturer has been utilizing this robot at its production facilities for preventative maintenance of semiconductor equipment piping, aiming for even greater stability in its production environment.

Background and Purpose In the semiconductor manufacturing process, deposits can easily accumulate within equipment piping, creating a constant risk of equipment failure or production line stoppages. Industrial pipes are often complex, featuring many bends or high-altitude installations that are difficult to handle with conventional inspection methods.

The manufacturer adopted 'Sooha,' which utilizes Solaris's proprietary soft robotics technology, to address these issues. Through regular monitoring and cleaning enabled by this robot, the company aims to reduce unexpected issues, improve maintenance efficiency, and strengthen the entire factory's production system.

Comments from the Manufacturing Department of the Adopting Company 'There are many areas within the factory where, due to physical constraints, we cannot remove the pipes and it is difficult to check their internal condition. We decided to implement Sooha because we see significant merit in being able to care for areas that were previously unreachable.'

Future Outlook Solaris will continue to support the establishment of a sustainable pipeline maintenance system, while quantitatively measuring the robot's effectiveness alongside the manufacturer, contributing to the further strengthening of their production system.

Furthermore, Solaris plans to leverage the insights gained from this case study to accelerate the expansion of its services into a wide range of industrial sectors that face challenges in managing complex piping maintenance.
