Australian compression wear brand "2XU" has announced the signing of an athlete contract with Shota Shiode, a long-distance runner affiliated with the Asahi Kasei Track and Field Club (hereinafter, Mr. Shiode).

Mr. Shiode is a runner who combines stable running and competitive strength in Ekiden and long-distance events.

He excels in the balance of speed and endurance, possesses high race management skills to read the flow of the race and maintain optimal positions, and is characterized by his stable running.

He joined the Aoyama Gakuin University Track and Field Club (long-distance block) from Sera High School, a prestigious and strong Ekiden school.

Among the three major Ekiden races, he particularly contributed significantly to three consecutive victories in the Hakone Ekiden, winning the 8th section for three consecutive years, and setting a new section record in his fourth year. Having experienced being the best in Japan in both high school and university, he will now belong to the prestigious Asahi Kasei corporate team, and is one of the promising athletes expected to excel not only in Ekiden but also in marathons.
