EcoKaku Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Sano City, Tochigi Prefecture, President and CEO: Shigezo Ito), a consolidated subsidiary of TECHNOLOGIES Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Hiroki Ryohara, Securities Code: 5248), is pleased to announce that grid connection has been completed for four battery storage facilities located in Gifu, Tochigi, and Chiba prefectures as part of its grid-connected battery storage business.

This marks the first time grid connection has been completed for projects within EcoKaku's grid-connected battery storage business. The four battery storage facilities for which grid connection has now been completed have a total maximum receiving power of 7,956kW and a battery capacity of 32,638kWh.

EcoKaku is promoting the development of grid-connected battery storage projects nationwide to further promote the adoption of renewable energy and stabilize the power supply and demand. The completion of grid connection for these four facilities is a significant step indicating that the company's grid-connected battery storage business is progressing into a concrete execution phase.

Grid connection completed for four projects as EcoKaku's first grid-connected battery storage projects.

Grid-connected battery storage is an increasingly important energy infrastructure as the introduction of renewable energy expands. To effectively utilize power sources whose output is affected by weather, such as solar and wind power generation, the function of storing electricity is essential.

EcoKaku is advancing initiatives for the development and commercialization of grid-connected battery storage projects across the country, and grid connection has now been completed for four facilities in Ena City, Gifu Prefecture; Tochigi City, Tochigi Prefecture; Kanuma City, Tochigi Prefecture; and Isumi City, Chiba Prefecture.

This represents the culmination of a series of development processes, including land development, grid application, technical review response, equipment procurement, and construction system establishment, into concrete results. This is not only EcoKaku's first completed grid connection project but also a major step forward towards continuous project development and commencement of operations in the future.

Role of Grid-Connected Battery Storage

Grid-connected battery storage is equipment connected to the power grid that charges and discharges electricity. By storing electricity during periods of low power demand or high renewable energy generation and discharging it during periods of high demand, it contributes to the stabilization of power supply and demand.

While the adoption of renewable energy is expanding, securing adjustment capacity to cope with generation fluctuations is a critical issue for the entire power system. Grid-connected battery storage is one of the promising means to address this challenge and is expected to become foundational infrastructure supporting the future decarbonized society.

The completion of grid connection for these four facilities is an initiative that responds to such societal demands and demonstrates that EcoKaku is steadily building achievements in a new area of energy infrastructure.

Future Outlook

EcoKaku plans to proceed with trial operations, confirmation of operational systems, and contract procedures for the four facilities for which grid connection has been completed, aiming for sequential commencement of operations.

Furthermore, the company will continue to promote grid applications, land development, technical review response, equipment procurement, and the strengthening of construction and operational systems to achieve the completion of grid connection and commencement of operations for multiple projects.

The TECHNOLOGIES Group positions the grid-connected battery storage business as one of the important growth areas in its energy-related businesses. Moving forward, the Group will work as one to promote business activities aimed at the widespread adoption of renewable energy, stabilization of power supply and demand, and the construction of sustainable energy infrastructure.

The four projects for which grid connection has been completed are expected to contribute to sales in the fiscal year ending January 2027. However, the actual timing and amount of sales recognition may vary depending on the progress of commercialization and contract terms.
