Tomio Holdings Co., Ltd., which operates 'Chiba Winery,' the first winery in Chiba City, will begin sales of 'Chiba University Numata Orchard Cider' on Thursday, May 28, 2026. This product is a sparkling cider made from apples grown at the 'Forest Environment Horticultural Farm' in Numata City, Gunma Prefecture, managed by Chiba University's Center for Environment, Health and Field Sciences. At an altitude of 750m, various apple varieties are cultivated, and this cider uses six types: Mutsu, Jonathan, Yoko, Jonagold, Sekai Ichi, and Shin Sekai. It is carefully finished using the traditional bottle-fermentation method similar to Champagne. The label features the artwork 'Longing for Delicious Harvest' by Shiei Oshima, who belongs to the disability art facility 'Atelier Hifumiyo' operated by our company. Chiba Winery was established in 2025 as Chiba City's first winery, aiming to connect agriculture, food, welfare, and tourism to become a cultural hub for the next 100 years. In 2026, marking the 900th anniversary of Chiba's founding, the company plans to challenge itself to brew 'All-Chiba City' wine using grapes grown in its own vineyards. Tomio Holdings will continue to create new regional culture and value through industry-academia collaboration and regional co-creation.
