Nakashiro Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Moriyama-ku, Nagoya) will co-host, in collaboration with Aichi Gakuen University (Okazaki City), the "Heatstroke Prevention Workshop with Student Teachers" on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at the outdoor bath facility "Okazaki Raku no Yu" in Okazaki City. The event is open to elementary school students and their parents.
This initiative is part of the "Okazaki City Heatstroke Prevention Council," a collaborative effort involving the city of Okazaki, Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Aichi Gakuen University, and Okazaki Raku no Yu.
This marks a new phase in outreach, expanding Aichi Gakuen University’s existing heatstroke prevention workshops—previously held in local elementary schools—into the broader community. For the first time, a public bathhouse will be transformed into a classroom setting.
The student teachers, who are training to become certified educators, will deliver the workshop. They aim to educate local children on heatstroke prevention while gaining hands-on teaching experience in a real-world environment.
Background
In recent years, rising numbers of extremely hot days across Japan have made heatstroke a pressing health concern for children. Due to their underdeveloped thermoregulatory systems, children are more vulnerable to heatstroke than adults, making early education on prevention crucial.
Aichi Gakuen University has long conducted heatstroke prevention workshops in elementary schools across Okazaki City, promoting awareness and safety among children.
This event represents a new challenge: extending these educational efforts beyond schools into the community. By using the bathhouse—a familiar, accessible gathering place for residents—as a classroom, the workshop aims to engage families and promote community-wide awareness.
University Students Step into the Role of Teachers
The instructors are students from Aichi Gakuen University who are pursuing teaching careers and hold the "Heatstroke Prevention Ambassador" certification.
The workshop was conceived from the students’ desire to gain practical experience in teaching and community outreach.
The session will include interactive quizzes and dialogues to make learning accessible and engaging for children. Parents will also receive guidance on practical heatstroke prevention measures they can apply at home, making this a family-oriented educational experience.
For children, it’s an opportunity to learn in a fun and relaxed environment. For students, it’s valuable field experience in education. By choosing a local bathhouse instead of a school, this initiative pioneers a new model for community-based health education.

Connecting Community and Future: The "Sustainablo" Initiative
This event is part of Nakashiro’s ongoing "Sustainablo" project, which aims to transform public bathhouses into sustainable community hubs.
"Sustainablo" leverages bathhouses as local centers to address community challenges while preserving and passing on regional culture, charm, and human connections to future generations.
This heatstroke workshop represents a new step in expanding school-based health education into the community. It not only educates children on heatstroke prevention but also provides aspiring teachers with practical training, contributing to both public health and the development of future educators.
Okazaki Raku no Yu will continue to strengthen collaborations with universities, local government, and regional businesses. Under the Sustainablo vision, the facility will create unique spaces for health and learning, further contributing to the well-being of the local community.
