Naturesway Co., Ltd., in joint research with the Aomori Prefectural Industrial Technology Research Center, Hirosaki University, Agri-Communications Tsugaru, and Ichikawa Cosmetics, has successfully commercialized cosmetics utilizing the 'Katakuri' (dogtooth violet), a species designated as endangered in several Japanese prefectures. The project focused on efficient cultivation, propagation, and skin functionality research. A courtesy visit to the Governor of Aomori regarding the product launch is scheduled for June 3, 2026. Since Katakuri takes 7-8 years to bloom, establishing cultivation technology is vital for conservation. The project focused on the non-destructive use of its leaves. Research results include shortening the cultivation period and establishing tissue culture techniques, while proving multi-faceted skin benefits such as anti-inflammatory, whitening, anti-glycation, and antioxidant effects. This establishes a sustainable manufacturing model that balances the conservation of rare regional resources with industrial use.
