Neco Republic Co., Ltd. (Representative Director: Asaka Kawase) has opened 'NECOREPA APARTMENT HOTEL' in Furukawa-cho, Hida City, Gifu Prefecture. This facility, which allows residents to live as if sharing a home with rescue cats, was funded by the Hida City Hometown Tax (Furusato Nozei) social business creation support program. An open house will be held on June 19 (Fri) and 20 (Sat), 2026.
Renovated from a traditional Japanese folk house in Hida Furukawa, the facility is designed for natural co-existence between cats and humans. It is aimed at individuals who want to live with cats but have been unable to do so due to lifestyle, work, or lack of experience, and those who are anxious about the reality of pet ownership. The facility serves as an 'entrance to living with cats,' offering a place to experience daily life alongside rescue cats.
The project is a new social business hub for Neco Republic, where revenue generated from operations is used for medical expenses, food, and adoption activities for rescue cats. Neco Republic continues its mission to 'give all cats in the world a safe place to sleep and a belly full of happiness' through its various activities, including rescue cat cafes and adoption events.
Key features include: - Co-living spaces where cats roam freely - An entry point for beginners to learn about 'life with a cat' - Independent private rooms (7-8 tatami mats, starting at 49,000 yen/month) - Well-equipped shared facilities including kitchens and 'catios' (outdoor cat enclosures) - A warm environment featuring cat-themed art - Revenue reinvested into cat welfare - A model for regional revitalization by addressing abandoned housing and promoting migration to Hida City.
