Noda Corporation (Headquarters: Asakusabashi, Taito-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Rei Noda) has established a made-to-order production system for 'Regional Timber Flooring (for light foot traffic)' and has begun proposing it for public facilities and local projects. In recent years, interest in architecture and interior wood usage utilizing domestic and regional timber has grown in pursuit of a carbon-neutral and circular society. In 2021, the 'Act for the Promotion of the Use of Wood in Buildings, etc., to Contribute to the Realization of a Decarbonized Society' (commonly known as the 'Urban Wood Construction Promotion Act') was enacted, and initiatives to use regional timber are spreading nationwide, led by local governments. In response to these growing social needs, Noda is leveraging its expertise as a comprehensive wood building materials manufacturer to propose flooring that utilizes regional timber. The newly proposed flooring uses regional timber, with a hybrid plywood base made from a combination of Japanese cypress and cedar from Shizuoka Prefecture. The surface material uses cypress or cedar that has been modified to improve durability. Noda has commercialized this flooring by applying 50-60% pressure-strengthening treatment to the regional timber and utilizing its long-cultivated coating technology, making it suitable for light foot traffic applications.
