Born January 23, 1968, in Osaka Prefecture.

Debuted in 1990 as a violinist with KRYZLER & KOMPANY.

Gained international fame through a performance with Celine Dion.

After disbanding KRYZLER & KOMPANY in 1996, he began his solo career.

In 2002, he founded the record label HATS, where he serves as music director.

In autumn 2007, he relocated his base to London, focusing on returning to his musical roots.

Taro Hakase continues to push boundaries, performing up to 100 concerts annually.

In spring 2023 and 2024, he toured with a trio featuring Yukie Nishimura (piano) and Hiroki Kashiwagi (cello), delivering exquisite chamber music performances.

In autumn 2024, Taro Hakase and nine top Japanese musicians—collectively known as the 'Super Band,' who have been touring together since 2020—formed a new ensemble, 'TARO HAKASE & THE LADS,' centered around his unique violin style.

The band debuted at Blue Note Tokyo in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo, in February 2024, and launched the nationwide 'VIBRANT' tour in September, comprising 40 performances. The band, with an average age of 60, blends jazz, rock, and Latin influences into a dynamic, genre-defying groove.

In spring 2025, he celebrated his 35th anniversary with the 'Orchestra Concert 2025 ~The Symphonic Sessions~' and the 'TARO HAKASE 35th Anniversary The Best of 35 Years' tour in autumn.

In 2026, marking 30 years since his solo debut, he launched the 'Orchestra Concert 2026 ~The Symphonic Sessions~,' with 28 performances across 23 venues nationwide starting March 14. Beyond performance, he has composed over 450 pieces, including theme songs for films, dramas, news, and variety shows, as well as corporate anthems and image songs.

Taro Hakase continues to challenge himself, evolve, and build a one-of-a-kind musical world.
