BijouxPass Inc. (headquartered in Chuo-ku, Osaka; CEO: Shouei Yuuki) has entered into a business partnership with SustainaVerse, Inc. (headquartered in California, USA) to develop the world’s first AI scoring system specialized for Japanese crafts, intended for integration into the craft-focused global auction platform 'SILWa'.
BijouxPass, operating under the corporate philosophy of 'Connecting artisan skills to the future through technology,' recently launched 'BijouxPass,' a renovation platform aimed at improving wages for jewelry artisans, in April.

"Beyond jewelry, our goal has always been to support a wide range of handcraft artisans. We founded the company planning to operate two core platforms: one for jewelry and another for crafts. However, developing the craft platform required advanced technical capabilities and significant funding, so we decided to launch the jewelry platform first. The opportunity arose when our jewelry platform's business plan was selected by LED Kansai, leading us to a tech event where we met SustainaVerse. Their support enabled us to proceed with self-funded development and launch this project."

SustainaVerse, Inc. is a sustainability-tech company founded in the U.S. by Kenichi Miki and Ajit Bhave. Born from Hitachi’s Silicon Valley incubation program, it became an independent entity in February 2026. The company specializes in scoring technologies that visualize the environmental and social value of products and services based on data. Its app, 'SustainaLens,' allows users to scan product barcodes via smartphone to view sustainability scores and is currently available in the U.S. and Europe. In this partnership, SustainaVerse will leverage its scoring expertise and AI development knowledge to co-develop a value-visualization system tailored specifically for Japanese crafts.

Kenichi Miki
"I've long been deeply interested in scoring craftsmanship. Overseas, especially in countries with master craftsman systems, the digitization of artisan techniques using AI is already advancing. At this turning point in history, BijouxPass’s strong passion for 'quantifying and scoring Japanese crafts' inspired me. I feel we are entering an era where technology, once seen as distant, is now connecting with traditional craftsmanship to create and spread new value. Our shared vision for global expansion was another key reason I wanted to collaborate. While this is a cultural initiative, SILWa must ultimately function as a viable business. I deeply resonate with Mr. Yuuki’s desire to 'help artisans earn more.' The reality is, without profitability, such initiatives cannot be sustained."

The AI scoring system developed through this partnership will aim to clearly visualize the value of craftworks based on factors such as materials, techniques, production processes, the background of the artist/artisan, regional characteristics, rarity, and cultural context.
The score is not intended to rank works as superior or inferior, but rather to serve as an informational foundation that helps consumers understand and appreciate the background and value of craft items before making informed purchases. The project is led by Yoriko Nakagawa, a long-time craft director who has worked closely with artisans.

A vision shaped by years of dedication to craftsmanship
"Scoring isn’t about assigning grades. Our goal is to transform diverse craft techniques into accessible data so that consumers without specialized knowledge can feel closer to these crafts. Japanese crafts often possess a beauty born from chance—our system must properly recognize and evaluate such intangible values."
(Yoriko Nakagawa, SILWa Director)
Service Overview
The launch of 'SILWa' is scheduled for November this year. This AI-powered system will continue to enhance cultural value through ongoing data accumulation even after the site’s launch. In the future, the accumulated data is planned to be preserved as a tool for cultural heritage. By visualizing the value of crafts, we aim to pass on the invisible 'warmth of the artisan’s hands'—and this new world will begin in Japan this November.
