Plaza Osaka Co., Ltd. (Yodogawa-ku, Osaka) held a completion ceremony on May 31, 2026, for the relocation of the large mural 'Genealogy of Hope' by artist BAKIBAKI. This work was originally displayed in front of the West Gate of the Osaka-Kansai Expo and was scheduled to be dismantled after the event. However, driven by the desire to ensure the culture and inspiration born from the Expo would not be fleeting, a crowdfunding campaign was launched by the Yodokabe Executive Committee, raising approximately 6.06 million yen from 245 supporters to make the relocation possible. At the ceremony, BAKIBAKI provided an explanation of the work, followed by a commemorative event. The massive mural, measuring approximately 4.5 meters in height and 12 meters in width, is now open to the public as a new piece of public art on the grounds of Hotel Plaza Osaka. 'Genealogy of Hope' is not merely a preserved piece; it takes on a new role as a 'living legacy' that connects the culture born from the global event to the daily lives of the local community.
