Misora Connect (Headquarters: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Tatsutatsu Morita; Representative Director: Nori Takahashi; hereinafter "Misora Connect") announces the ongoing development of an enterprise Wi-Fi SIM authentication service as a new solution utilizing its proprietary full MVNO infrastructure. Simultaneously, the company invites companies to participate in proof-of-concept (PoC) testing for the service's official release.

This service serves as an authentication platform for enterprises, utilizing SIM cards as the key to the office Wi-Fi network. It achieves secure connection to the corporate wireless LAN using only the authentication information stored on the SIM card, eliminating the need for IDs, passwords, or digital certificates. The service is currently under development, with an official release targeted for fiscal year 2026.

Background of Development There are two major challenges in managing authentication for corporate Wi-Fi. In password-based systems, IT staff face the burden of distributing and managing passwords for all employees, alongside risks of unauthorized access due to leaks or failure to revoke access for departed employees. Conversely, for companies adopting digital certificate systems to enhance security, the ongoing operational load of distributing certificates and updating expiration dates across all employee devices becomes significant, especially as the number of employees grows. Furthermore, managing Wi-Fi connection configurations during hiring, personnel changes, and across multiple branch locations is a common pain point for information systems departments. Leveraging its strength as a full MVNO provider that handles everything from SIM issuance to the operation of the authentication infrastructure in-house, Misora Connect is developing an authentication method that fundamentally resolves these issues.

Features of the Service Key features include:

- Secure Connection without IDs or Passwords As the SIM card functions as the authentication key, password entry and certificate installation are unnecessary. This eliminates connection failures caused by password leaks or expired certificates.

- Wide Range of Device and Form Factor Support Supports major devices and operating systems, including Windows PCs and Android smartphones/tablets. It is compatible with both physical SIM cards and embedded eSIMs, allowing remote setting distribution to devices without SIM slots.

- Utilization of Existing Access Points Existing Wi-Fi access points compliant with standard security specifications (802.1X) can be used as-is. Implementation is possible simply by adding connection settings to Misora Connect’s authentication infrastructure, minimizing investment in new equipment.

- Multi-Site Support Employees can connect seamlessly to internal Wi-Fi at various locations, including headquarters and branch offices, using a single SIM card. This reduces the burden on both employees and IT departments by eliminating the need for additional settings even at remote branch locations.

Anticipated Use Cases - Corporate Wi-Fi Integration Employees issued Misora Connect SIM-equipped devices can automatically and securely connect to the internal wireless LAN using the same SIM card at any office location. IT departments are freed from certificate expiration management and distribution, while employees are relieved of the burden of memorizing or entering passwords. Access rights can be reliably revoked by simply retrieving the SIM card upon resignation or transfer.

- Corporate Wi-Fi Integration + Mobile Private Network By combining this with Misora Connect's mobile private network service, users can automatically switch between secure network connections inside and outside the office using a single SIM card. Within the office, the connection is made via SIM-authenticated Wi-Fi to internal servers or intranets. Outside the office, access to corporate systems is available via the mobile private network without going through the internet. Manual setting switching is unnecessary, and the optimal connection path is chosen automatically based on location. This eliminates the need for VPN setup and operation, leading to reduced support costs for IT departments.

Future Outlook Misora Connect positions this service as a core solution to integrate mobile communications and office networks, with plans for the following functional expansions: - Coexistence with existing certificate-based authentication environments through hybrid offering with EAP-TLS.
