Development Background

I have an eco-bag, but I forgot to bring it on a day I changed bags. "THE CARD BAG" was born from these small, everyday regrets felt at convenience stores and supermarkets, thinking "I wish I had brought it."

Mondo Design Inc. is a bag manufacturer that handles the upcycled brand "SEAL," which reuses discarded tires. Leveraging the know-how cultivated in bag making, we began development with the aim of creating an "eco-bag that is not a burden to carry."

After dozens of prototypes, we meticulously examined the material thickness, stitching positions, and folding methods. Pursuing a structure that anyone could fold smoothly and into the same shape every time without hesitation, we achieved a unique folding structure that fits into a card size in 3 steps.

1. Card-sized portability that fits even in a chest pocket

When folded, THE CARD BAG can be stored in a card size of 6.5cm wide x 10.5cm high.

It fits neatly into chest pockets, trouser pockets, smartphone pouches, etc., making it easy to carry even on days when you change bags or go out for a short time.

2. Unique structure that unfolds instantly and folds in 3 steps

Simply take it out of your pocket or pouch and unfold it to use it as a tote bag.

After use, it can be stored in card size with a simple 3-step folding method. The design allows for smooth use without fumbling, whether at the checkout or on the go.

3. Storage capacity and strength to hold four 2-liter PET bottles

Despite its compact appearance, it unfolds into a tote bag measuring 40cm wide x 43cm high x 21cm deep when in use.

The unique drum-shaped structure ensures a capacity to hold four 2-liter PET bottles. Ripstop nylon is used for the material, achieving a load capacity of approximately 10kg.
