BATON GOLF CUP TEE-OFF EVENT Implementation Report (June 19, 2026, Kazusa Monarch Country Club)

"BATON GOLF," a project redesigning golf etiquette from "rules to be followed" to "a culture people want to participate in," held the "BATON GOLF CUP TEE-OFF EVENT" on June 19, 2026, at Kazusa Monarch Country Club. 72 golfers participated, and a total of 3,559 course preservation actions, such as filling divots and repairing ball marks, were recorded. There was no impact on play progression, and the results numerically demonstrated the hypothesis that "manners education can be changed into action through design, not just warnings."

Based on these achievements, BATON GOLF will expand its activities beyond one-off event operations and move into brand strategy, PR, and experience planning production for golf courses, companies, and organizations.

72 golfers/19 groups participated on the day.

From "forcing what is right" to "making people want to participate."

Until now, golf etiquette has often been perceived as "something to be followed" or "something to be warned about." At the BATON GOLF CUP, course preservation actions such as filling divots and repairing ball marks were recorded and visualized using a special scorecard, designed as positive actions that participants could enjoy together.

On the day, 72 participants in 19 groups took part. The following results, unseen in previous competitions, were recorded:

Number of Participants: 72 (19 groups)

Total Course Preservation Actions: 3,559 (2,511 divot fillings, 1,048 ball mark repairs)

Average Actions per Person: 49.4

Average Actions per Group: 187.3

Play Progression: All groups finished their rounds within the allotted time (no delays)

What Happened on Site

Beyond the numbers, scenes unseen in previous competitions unfolded on-site that day.

The divot boxes next to the short holes were empty by the time the first 9 groups finished. Many participants were seen getting out of their carts to fill divots, with comments like "I'm walking a lot today," indicating a natural sense of ownership and responsibility for the course as their own field.

Meanwhile, even with the encouragement of divot filling and ball mark repair, there were no delays in play progression, and all groups finished their rounds within the allotted time. The fact that promoting etiquette and playing fast can be achieved simultaneously was one of the confirmed outcomes of this event.

Communication among participants also changed. Banter like "I wanted to fix that divot!" emerged, and the mechanism of looking for good actions by others became a catalyst for conversation among participants.

"Good Golfer" Image Not Measured by Score

In the "BEST GREENSAVER" vote, where participants nominated the action that left the most impression on them, no correlation was found between skill (gross score) and being selected as BEST GREENSAVER (average score of selected: 95.5 / average score of non-selected: 96.1). Regardless of whether their score was good or bad, the attitude of valuing the course and consideration for fellow players were appreciated by others—demonstrating that "coolness" is not solely determined by score.

Indeed, the reasons for BEST GREENSAVER nominations included comments like "Divot Filling Demon," "Always filled divots," and "Fixed divots for others," suggesting that a persistent attitude and consideration for others were valued more than the sheer number of actions.

In the participant survey (41 responses), the most frequently chosen "good golfer image" was "someone with good manners," "someone considerate," and "someone fun to be with," indicating a shared value that prioritizes etiquette and consideration over skill or distance.

Special scorecard for recording divot fillings, ball mark repairs, and BEST GREENSAVER.

Why BATON GOLF Started

BATON GOLF began with Airi Tezuka's desire to "give back to the golf courses and the sport of golf that have supported me."

Behind this lies a structural issue facing the industry. While the spread of self-play has increased the number of golfers, it has also led to an increase in golfers who have not had the opportunity to learn etiquette. As a result, the burden of course maintenance has increased, conditions have deteriorated, and golfers have further distanced themselves—a negative loop affecting the entire industry. The approach of "designing a system that makes people want to participate" rather than "teaching" is the starting point for BATON GOLF's response to this structural challenge.

It is important not to let this passion and approach end with a one-off event. It must be based on data-driven design and be a sustainable business. As detailed above, the BATON GOLF CUP was not an impulsive idea but was built step-by-step through action design, data analysis, and operational planning.

Business Continuity and Future Development

Our core business is planning and producing brand strategy, marketing, PR, and promotions to address the challenges faced by companies and industries. The creation of the BATON GOLF CUP system is an extension of this. Rather than pursuing significant profits solely from golf events, we aim to give back to the golf industry in the form of GREENSAVER ACTION by leveraging the opportunities and knowledge gained through our main business—this is the structure of BATON GOLF's activities.

Moving forward, we will accept consultations from companies, golf courses, and organizations seeking to engage with the golf market in the following five areas and promote collaborations tailored to their respective objectives:

GREENSAVER ACTION Co-hosted Events: Planning and operation of preservation-focused competitions utilizing golf course vacancies or closed days.

GREENSAVER CSR Package: Participatory programs that add the significance of preservation and awareness to existing corporate competitions and events.

Casting: Designing appearances and SNS collaborations, from our affiliated GREENSAVERS like Airi Tezuka to external professionals, ambassadors, and influencers, tailored to the project.

Round Lessons / Business Golf Training: Corporate golf training including etiquette and deportment.

Planning & PR / Brand Produce: Support in transforming corporate initiatives into plans that drive action within the golf market.
