Luxury Uninhabited Island Resort 'HINATA Ohshima' to Grand Open on September 1 [Opening Ceremony on August 12]

Leisure Create Holdings Co., Ltd. (Representative Director: Shigeyoshi Kono) will grand open 'HINATA Ohshima,' a luxury resort offering an ultimate wellness experience on an uninhabited island in the Pacific Ocean off Nichinan City, Miyazaki Prefecture, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

In advance of this, the resort will begin a soft opening on Saturday, August 1.

Ahead of this historic moment marking a new symbol for Miyazaki, we will hold an 'Opening Ceremony (Commemorative Event)' on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, inviting stakeholders and members of the press.

Reviving a depopulated inhabited island through public-private collaboration

'Ohshima,' located approximately 2.5 km off Nangō Coast in Nichinan City, Miyazaki Prefecture, was once a historically inhabited island where many islanders lived and nurtured a rich culture. However, unable to resist the tide of depopulation, it recently became a 'completely uninhabited island,' posing major challenges for the region, including preserving its beautiful natural environment and preventing island degradation.

In response to this crisis, our representative, Shigeyoshi Kono—who has been involved in business revitalization in the local area—decided to personally invest his own funds as a way of giving back to his hometown, initiating efforts to revitalize Ohshima. The national government and Nichinan City resonated with this passion for regional revitalization, resulting in the allocation of a total of 400 million yen in Local Revitalization Subsidies.

This project is not merely a commercial development that exploits nature, but a 'public-private regional revitalization initiative' that combines high-quality private-sector standards with public infrastructure improvements—such as disaster prevention and environmental conservation—led by administrative bodies. The project aims to rekindle the island’s once-lost way of life in a sustainable form as a luxury resort, establishing a new model for island regeneration by promoting local ingredients and creating employment, thereby showcasing Nichinan’s overwhelming appeal to the world.

Additionally, we will offer a special program allowing early access for media to experience and photograph the unique value of HINATA Ohshima with all five senses—featuring exclusive villa tours harmonized with the environment, and unveiling of facilities such as the helipad and stables.
