Development Background

Many stationary, large cat towers are seen in the domestic pet product market. However, for residents of 1LDK and studio apartments, especially in urban areas, three challenges arise: "lack of space to place them," "too heavy to move or dispose of," and "no longer used as the cat grows."

Interviews conducted by our company with users who own cats revealed multiple comments regarding size, weight, and disposal methods.

Dewashiki Seisakusho Co., Ltd., which has been working with cardboard materials for over 60 years since its founding, has leveraged the inherent characteristics of cardboard – lightweight, processability, and ease of disposal – to develop neco's as "furniture that can change its location, play area, and movement paths according to the cat's age, personality, activity level, and living environment."

Each unit measures approximately 48.5cm wide x 25cm deep x 35cm high, making it compact. It can function as a cat's resting place with as few as 1-2 units, and can be placed against a wall or stacked vertically to match the room's shape. Even in the limited space of a 1LDK or rental apartment, a dedicated cat pathway can be secured without difficulty.

[Feature 2] Layout can be changed to suit the cat's growth and condition

The box-shaped units, with openings on all sides, function as a jungle gym, and cats can move freely between units by connecting them. For kittens, a low and safe layout; for active adult cats, a play area where they can move up, down, left, and right; for senior cats, a calm resting place that is easy to enter and exit – simply by reconfiguring the units, the layout can be adjusted to match the cat's age and activity level. The inside of the box also accommodates cats' natural instincts to hide, rest, and pass through.

Each unit weighs approximately 585g. It is lighter than large wooden or metal furniture, making it easy to move and handle. The units connect using our unique locking mechanism, allowing assembly without tools or tape. Three designs are available: STONE (stone pattern), FABRIC (hemp pattern), and Wood (wood grain). This addresses the common issue of cat products detracting from the interior's atmosphere.

Only soiled units can be replaced or disposed of, making hygiene management easy. When disposing, please follow your local municipality's sorting rules.
