Japan Race Promotion Co., Ltd. (JRP), headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, and operator of the All-Japan Super Formula Championship—the pinnacle of Japanese motorsports (hereinafter 'SUPER FORMULA')—has announced details of the '3rd Technical Session,' to be held this week on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Fuji Speedway (Oyama Town, Sunto District, Shizuoka Prefecture).

The international STEM education program 'STEM Racing' has newly confirmed its participation, expanding the number of exhibiting companies and organizations to a record high of 16.

JRP aims to serve as a 'bridge' connecting technological innovation with solutions to societal challenges through motorsports, known as a 'rolling laboratory.' This third edition of the Technical Session will feature technology exhibitions by leading-edge companies and organizations, as well as keynote speeches by industry experts. The venue will also showcase the domestically developed next-generation formula car prototype, 'JNFP-1,' offering a rare opportunity to experience the technical capabilities of Japanese formula racing.

The concurrent student career event, 'Career Session,' has already closed applications due to overwhelming response.

Overview of the Technical Session

Theme: 'SDV (Software Defined Vehicle).' As vehicle value shifts from hardware to software, technologies honed at the forefront of motorsports—such as real-time data analysis, AI, communication, simulation, and vehicle control—are becoming key drivers in the evolution of next-generation mobility. This session will bring together diverse technologies and solutions supporting the SDV era. Positioning SUPER FORMULA as a 'rolling laboratory,' the event will foster collaboration among companies, researchers, and students, creating a space for new technological co-creation. The number of exhibitors has increased since the June 29, 2026 announcement, with the addition of STEM Racing, bringing the total to a record 16 organizations.

'STEM Racing,' newly confirmed as an exhibitor, is an international STEM education program targeting students aged 6–19. Through designing and racing miniature formula cars, students gain hands-on experience in engineering, teamwork, and project management. The program has grown to include over 65 countries, 29,000 schools, and 1.8 million participants (35% female).

In Japan, STEM Academy Association operates as the official licensee. Teams include schools such as Fukuoka Institute of Technology High School, as well as student-led teams like 'Team Hayate,' composed of students from the American School in Japan. Domestic competitions will be held in 2026, marking the program's full-scale launch. Two selected Japanese teams are scheduled to compete in the 'STEM Racing World Finals' in Singapore in October 2026. Supported by Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), the program aims to expand opportunities for students nationwide through partnerships with schools, educational institutions, and corporations.

The philosophy of STEM Racing—cultivating next-generation engineers and innovators through motorsports—aligns closely with JRP's human resource development goals under the 'SUPER FORMULA NEXT50' initiative. The Technical Session will serve as a platform to widely promote these activities.
