Asanumagumi Corporation (Headquarters: Naniwa-ku, Osaka; President: Makoto Asanuma) has announced its sponsorship of '4-Out: Play Ball Again,' a film starring Masaki Aiba that depicts the world of disability baseball, resonating with the film's core philosophy. The film is scheduled for nationwide release in Japan on November 6, 2026.

Since 2018, Asanumagumi has consistently supported the Japan Disability Baseball Federation. Moving forward, the company remains dedicated to social contribution, aiming to realize a society where everyone, regardless of disability, can pursue their passions and shine.

A Touching Story Based on True Events

After being dropped from a corporate baseball team, the protagonist, Yagami (Masaki Aiba), finds work at a sports center for individuals with disabilities. There, he meets people who want to play baseball. Despite opposition and the assumption that "baseball is impossible for people with disabilities," Yagami decides to build a team as their manager. Their lives intersect as they strive for the national championship title.

Based on the true story of the establishment of the "Tokyo Blue Thunders," the first disability baseball team in Tokyo, the title "4-Out" carries the positive message that life does not end at "three outs"; even after setbacks, one can continue to pursue their path.

Filming took place between November 7, 2025, and February 15, 2026, in locations across Gunma Prefecture (Maebashi, Ota, Isesaki, Takasaki, Kiryu) and Tokyo.

What is Disability Baseball?

It is baseball played by athletes with disability certificates using rubber balls, with rules adjusted to the specific needs of the players. The Japan Disability Baseball Federation (JDL) was established in 1993. Thirty-three years later, there are approximately 36 teams and 1,000 registered players nationwide, all competing in national tournaments. Asanumagumi has supported these ideals and the federation since 2018.

Additionally, the 6th World Disability Baseball Tournament is being held in Kitakyushu in November, with the Japanese team aiming for its third consecutive title and fifth world championship. Asanumagumi is also supporting the tournament.
