Sound Masking App "KESHIKI" for Offices Launched, No Construction Required, Usable with Commercially Available Speakers

Development Background

In recent years, offices have been re-evaluated from being "places to work" to "places where people gather to foster communication and creativity." In fact, according to a survey released by the Japan Productivity Center in 2025, the telework implementation rate was 14.6%, a record low since the survey began, clearly indicating a trend towards returning to the office.

While interest in creating spaces through layout, furniture, and lighting is increasing, "sound environment" remains one of the difficult areas to improve. Sound masking, known as one of the improvement methods, often requires the installation of dedicated equipment and construction, and the burden of initial costs and implementation period has limited its adoption to some large-scale offices. Simply download the dedicated app and connect it to commercially available speakers to start using it. Without the need for large-scale equipment or wiring work, you can begin using it immediately after installation.

2. Original Sound Sources that Blend into the Office Space

All recorded sound sources are original content produced with office use in mind. By suppressing melodies and rhythms, it creates a natural sound environment that is not tiring even with prolonged use.

3. Select and Customize Sounds According to Space and Purpose

Users can select from three categories: Soundscape, Speech Privacy, and Noise Control. By combining up to three sound sources while adjusting their volume, it is possible to create a sound tailored to each office environment.

Effects Observed in Monitor Testing

KESHIKI conducted monitor testing in office environments across 7 companies, 9 locations, and approximately 50 employees.

Participating companies shared common challenges such as "difficulty concentrating," "desire to create an environment conducive to conversation," and "desire to improve the impression of the space."

The survey showed the highest expectation for "improved concentration," followed by "revitalized communication" and "relaxation and refreshment." Furthermore, 85.7% expressed a desire for continued use, and the overall satisfaction rating was 4.0/5.0.
