Social Contribution Event to Support University Entrance Exams from the Community Decided Kobe Education Research Institute Co., Ltd. (EDUFUSION GROUP, hereinafter EFG) will hold a "Special Lecture by Kawaijuku Instructor" on August 8, 2026 (Sat.) at the Kobe Station Front Training Center, featuring Ms. Tomoko Kikukawa, a lecturer in modern Japanese at Kawaijuku.
This lecture is a valuable opportunity to hear from Ms. Kikukawa, a top instructor who teaches classes for prestigious universities such as the University of Tokyo and Waseda/Keio universities, and is also responsible for many of the main video lectures for Kawaijuku Manavis. She will unravel difficult entrance exam questions with a clear and gentle speaking style. With the spread of generative AI, the "ability to ask questions" and the "ability to read the essence of text" are becoming more important than ever. This event aims to foster the logical thinking skills that will enable children to "live more richly and freely." Participation is free of charge and open to the public.
Background and Purpose of the Event The era of generative AI (artificial intelligence) has arrived, where anyone can easily create and summarize text. However, the "essential reading comprehension skills" to discern the truth of information presented by AI, understand context correctly, and construct thoughts in one's own words are increasing in importance as uniquely human skills that AI cannot replace.
In recent university entrance exams, logical reading comprehension, which involves grasping the core of vast amounts of information rather than mere memorization, has become the biggest factor determining success or failure. The "ability to accurately read and understand information" in Japanese language and modern Japanese is the foundation of all academic ability and the basis for "autonomy and independence" to survive in the unpredictable society of the future. EFG has supported high school students in developing self-management skills and social skills that will not be buried by the times through university entrance exam preparation, going beyond mere test preparation. In cooperation with local high school students, their guardians, and educators, this lecture will be held as part of our social contribution activities to contribute to creating a learning environment where children who will be the future pillars of society can study with peace of mind.
Program Overview
Part 1 [For 3rd Year High School Students] "Optimal Solution for Mastering Common Test Modern Japanese" 15:30 - 17:00 Part 2 [For 1st and 2nd Year High School Students] "Developing the Ability to Read Modern Japanese Before Exams" 18:00 - 19:30
Part 1 (15:30–17:00) is aimed at 3rd-year high school students facing the crucial summer before their exams. It will provide specific learning strategies and optimal solutions for scoring well on the Common Test Modern Japanese. Participants will develop a logical perspective to accurately discern the intentions of the question setters, which is essential for both descriptive and reading comprehension questions, within a limited time. *Practice sessions for the Common Test Japanese will be held from 13:00. We encourage those who have time to join the practice sessions from the beginning.
Part 2 (18:00–19:30) will be held for 1st and 2nd-year high school students. It will emphasize the importance of logical reading comprehension from an early stage, before students are considered "exam candidates." Looking ahead to difficult university entrance exams in the future, it will propose a "foundation of thinking for correct accumulation" that goes beyond simply reading texts to discerning the essence of things, and will support the development of individuals who will continue to learn and contribute to the community.
