Daimaru Matsuzakaya Develops Original XR Horror Attraction 'Meikai Department' with Yami & Japan XR Center

Daimaru Matsuzakaya Department Store has begun producing 'Meikai Department ~Endless Memories Wandering an Infinite Department Store Labyrinth~', an original free-roaming XR horror attraction co-created with horror creative company Yami and Japan XR Center. Players wear HMDs and freely walk through a haunted department store setting as a night security guard investigating spatial anomalies on a secret mission. The attraction runs July 16 to August 11, 2026 at Daimaru Tokyo Store 11F event hall. A crowdfunding campaign on CAMPFIRE runs June 5-23 with a 300,000 yen goal, offering early-access experience tickets and venue name credits as returns. Yami is a leading Japanese horror entertainment company whose exhibitions including 'Missing Persons Exhibition' drew over 400,000 visitors cumulatively and won an ACC Tokyo Bronze award. Japan XR Center operates from Japan, India, and San Francisco, specializing in XR implementation.
