This year's Doyo no Ushi no Hi is Sunday, July 26th. Eels, known as a stamina food to help you power through the hot summer, will be gathered at the basement food floor of Matsuzakaya Shizuoka Store. We have a wide variety of products, including classic unaju, eel bento boxes, and kabayaki. The popular "Yaizu Fisheries High School Eel Special Sale" will also be held again this year. Eels carefully raised in Oigawa River water by students of the Aquaculture Department's Freshwater Section will be sold. They are proud eels raised with great care every day. On the day of the sale, students themselves will be at the store to directly convey the appeal of their eels and their passion for aquaculture. Nationwide Exclusive! Eel Raised and Shipped by High School Students Sold as Long Grilled Eel!

We will be selling eels raised by students of the Aquaculture Department's Freshwater Section at Shizuoka Prefectural Yaizu Fisheries High School. The students have been involved in the entire breeding process, from feed formulation to feeding and selection, using water from the Oigawa River. The feed does not contain excess oil, which is characteristic of the eel's natural, light flavor. Before shipping, students carefully select each eel, checking its thickness and weight, without causing any damage. Eels that have grown to over 200g are shipped. This is the only school in the country that ships eels raised by high school students. On the day of the sale, students will be at the store to directly promote the appeal of the eels they have raised themselves. One student said, "I am happy and proud that the eels we raised ourselves will reach many people as products. I want people of all ages to try them."
