Shohei Ohtani's Life-Sized Gold Statues, Featuring Both Pitcher and Batter, Make Their Kyushu Debut! Combined Reference Price: ¥110 Million!

SGC Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Takahisa Ishikawa), a manufacturer and seller of gold products and a buyer of precious metals, will hold "The Great Gold Exhibition," an exhibition and sale of gold products, at Daimaru Fukuoka Tenjin Store for 10 days from Friday, July 24, 2026, to Sunday, August 2, 2026.

Special Exhibition of Life-Sized Gold Statues of Pitcher and Batter Together

On special display at the venue will be life-sized gold statues of Shohei Ohtani, an MLB player for the Los Angeles Dodgers: "Golden Batter Shohei Ohtani" and "Golden Pitcher Shohei Ohtani." This is a rare opportunity to see both statues exhibited together. These works were created by SGC, a pioneer in gold products, with Ohtani's official approval, over approximately two years. The batter statue uses 1,550 sheets of gold leaf and stands approximately 1.9m tall (approximately 2.4m from the base to the tip of the bat), the same height as Ohtani. The pitcher statue uses 1,450 sheets of gold leaf and stands approximately 1.7m tall. The reference price for each is ¥50 million (excluding tax, ¥55 million including tax), and ¥100 million (excluding tax, ¥110 million including tax) for both combined, inspired by Ohtani's 2024 record of "50-50" (recording 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in a single season) and his achievement of over 50 home runs for two consecutive years.

Additionally, under the title "Shohei Ohtani Pure Gold Collection," medals of Shohei Ohtani made of pure gold, approximately 5.4cm in diameter and weighing 100g, will be released as special project items. Two types are available: batter and pitcher, with a planned selling price of ¥9,614,000 each.

Furthermore, pure gold figures will also be sold. There are three types: "K24 Batter Shohei Ohtani," "K24 Pitcher Shohei Ohtani," and "K24 Two-Way Shohei Ohtani." Both 1/10 and 1/20 scales will be available for each.
