Registration Opens for 2026 Summer School at American Kids International School in Minato Mirai, Yokohama

American Kids International School, located in Minato Mirai (MM Portside), Yokohama, will commence its "2026 Summer School" on June 8, 2026, for students ranging from 2.5 years old to high school. The original program, which blends "Summer School" and "Summer Fun" as practiced in American local schools, offers an authentic "mini-study abroad" experience in an all-English environment for up to approximately 12 weeks.

All classes are conducted exclusively in English. Students can acquire natural conversational English skills by spending extended time in an English-only environment while in Japan. The curriculum is an original configuration combining "Summer School" and "Summer Fun" from American Elementary Schools. Four programs are provided tailored to age and level, from Pre-Kindergarten (age 2.5+) to High School.

Background In recent years, with the progress of globalization, interest in learning in an authentic English environment from early childhood has increased. The school has trained many bilingual children through its unique program based on American kindergarten methods. The 2026 Summer School creates an opportunity for children attending regular Japanese kindergartens or elementary schools to experience authentic international school learning by providing an "all-English environment" during the summer break. PROGRAM 01 2026 Early Summer Care Duration: June 8, 2026 (Mon) - July 10, 2026 (Fri) (5 weeks total) Time: Mon-Fri 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Target: International school students / New kindergarten students to New 6th graders, Junior High to High School students This course is available during the interval between regular school and the main summer school session. It fosters American Kids Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten students as future junior leaders while improving their own English skills through supporting younger children.

PROGRAM 02 2026 Summer School for Kindergarteners Duration: July 13, 2026 (Mon) - August 28, 2026 (Fri) Time: Mon-Fri 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (Extended Care 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.) Target: Pre-kindergarten (2.5-3 years old) / Kindergarten (4-6 years old) A summer school held at AMERICAN KIDS Kindergarten. It is an excellent opportunity for children who usually attend Japanese kindergartens to experience an authentic international kindergarten.
