U-NEXT Corporation, a part of the USEN & U-NEXT GROUP, has announced the release of DVD-BOX 1 for the Korean drama "When Flowers Bloom, I Think of the Moon" on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 12:00 PM. The DVD will be sold exclusively on their online store, U-NEXT Asia ONLINE STORE, with DVD-BOX 2 planned for release in May 2026.
"When Flowers Bloom, I Think of the Moon" is a pure historical romance drama set during the Joseon era's alcohol prohibition. It tells the story of a woman who survives by illegally brewing alcohol and the inspector who is tasked with enforcing the ban. The series captivated audiences with its deep story, which masterfully blends romance with mystery and past grudges. The show's young cast received critical acclaim, with lead actress Lee Hyeri winning the Excellence Award for an Actress in a Miniseries at the KBS Drama Awards, and co-stars Byeon Woo-seok and Kang Mi-na (formerly of gugudan) winning Best New Actor/Actress awards.
The lead role is played by Yoo Seung-ho, a talented actor who started as a child star and is known for roles in works like the Korean adaptation of "Dragon Zakura." Returning to historical drama for the first time in about four years since "The Emperor: Owner of the Mask," he plays Inspector Nam Young, a man of principle and dignity who is clumsy when it comes to love. His realistic portrayal and occasional gentle smiles are sure to make hearts flutter.
Co-starring is Lee Hyeri ("My Roommate Is a Gumiho," "May I Help You?"), who plays Kang Ro-seo, a noblewoman who resorts to illegal brewing to pay off her family's debt. In her first historical drama, she delivers a spirited performance as a strong-willed heroine determined to change her fate, captivating viewers with her dignified gaze.
The dynamic between Ro-seo, the illegal brewer, and Young, the inspector chasing her, is a must-see. As these two opposites are drawn together by fate, their journey to falling in love, filled with heart-fluttering moments of unspoken feelings, is central to the plot. The story is further enhanced by thrilling elements of court conspiracies and past connections that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Also featuring Byeon Woo-seok ("Lovely Runner") and Kang Mi-na ("Hotel del Luna"), the plot thickens with a love quadrangle involving the Crown Prince Lee Pyo (played by Woo-seok) and the noble lady Han Ae-jin (played by Mi-na). The heart-warming story of love and friendship among these four characters, which eventually influences the fate of the nation, is not to be missed.
"When Flowers Bloom, I Think of the Moon" DVD-BOX 1 includes both the original Korean audio and a Japanese dubbed version, along with deluxe bonus features like making-of videos and cast interviews.
