BioPhenoMA Inc. (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Daisuke Niwa) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Taiwan Exosome Co., Ltd. (Taiwan) and Waseda University (Japan) to promote international collaboration in the discovery of novel biomarkers utilizing exosomes.
This MOU aims to create new diagnostic technologies based on research into exosomes derived from immune cells and to strengthen the research network between Japan and Taiwan.
Exosomes are minute particles secreted by cells, containing diverse molecules such as proteins and RNA, and have garnered attention in recent years across multiple fields including cancer, immune diseases, and inflammatory diseases. In particular, exosomes derived from NK (Natural Killer) cells are known to easily reflect changes in immune responses, showing potential as useful indicators for understanding treatment effects and evaluating disease status. Research on exosomes derived from immune cells is advancing in Taiwan, and the enhancement of analytical technologies through international collaboration is anticipated.

Taiwan Exosome Co., Ltd. has strengths in the separation and evaluation technologies for exosomes derived from immune cells, while Waseda University possesses a research foundation in the life sciences field. BioPhenoMA conducts biomarker research, including exosome analysis. Through the collaboration of the three parties, they will deepen their understanding of the characteristics of NK cell-derived exosomes and build a foundation for future diagnostic technology development.
Through this MOU signing, the three parties will engage in information exchange and research cooperation concerning the advancement of exosome separation and analysis technologies, the search for molecules reflecting changes in immune status, and the understanding of exosome dynamics in disease models. This will aim to create novel biomarkers in the fields of immunotherapy and inflammatory diseases, thereby strengthening international research collaboration.
Company Overview
BioPhenoMA is a startup that possesses the ultra-trace protein detection technology "TN-cyclonTM," developed by Professor Etsuro Ito and his team at Waseda University. "TN-cyclonTM" is a technology capable of measuring ultra-trace proteins in blood and exosomes with ultra-high sensitivity using standard bio-laboratory equipment.
Our mission is to "create an innovative platform that allows anyone to easily perform 'ultra-trace protein detection' anywhere, anytime, and contribute to further advancements in the biomedical field" for the analysis of biological phenomenon mechanisms, and we are promoting research and development with this mission.
