BuddyBoard Inc. (Headquarters: Nagoya City, Mizuho Ward, Aichi Prefecture, Representative Director: Raizo Kosaka) has launched the "AI Indication List" function as a new feature of "BuddyBoard AI" for its drawing knowledge platform "BuddyBoard." This function uses AI to detect handwritten and text-based correction instructions on drawings and automatically lists the indicated points. The beta version will be available starting July 6, 2026. During the beta period, customers using the Enterprise Plan can use it free of charge.

Handwritten text is automatically converted to text, allowing users to grasp at a glance who pointed out what. This reduces the effort of picking up scattered annotations on drawings one by one and prevents overlooked indications.

Challenges in the Field

In architectural practice, writing correction instructions with a pen on drawings is a daily task. Professionals at architectural firms and general contractors spend time picking up scattered annotations on drawings and organizing the indicated points each time they check the drawings.

The more indications there are, the more time is spent on the manual work of picking up and organizing annotations. Annotations are scattered across the entire drawing, and considerable attention is required to track them all. As a result, time that should be spent on considering the content of the indications or making design decisions is instead spent on the task of picking up annotations. Overlooked corrections and rework in later stages have also occurred as a consequence of this burden.

What It Can Do

The AI Indication List function collectively detects correction instructions written on drawings and lists the indicated points. AI reads handwritten text and automatically converts it to text.

Selecting an item in the list instantly moves the user to the corresponding page and location on the drawing. Confirmation of the indicated content and identification of its location on the drawing can be completed on a single screen, eliminating the need to search for annotations by moving back and forth between drawings. It is also possible to add further notes to the indications on the spot.

Furthermore, the list can be exported as a CSV file. This eliminates the need for transcription into internal standard form formats, streamlining the management of indicated points.

Comment from Raizo Kosaka, Representative Director of BuddyBoard Inc.

"In the field of drawing checks, a lot of time is spent picking up and organizing indications written on drawings one by one. The AI Indication List was developed to automate this task with AI and create an environment where personnel can concentrate on considering the content of the indications themselves."

Ease of Implementation

The AI Indication List function can be used as is within the existing BuddyBoard environment. No new software installation or complex setup is required. Since BuddyBoard is a service accessible via a browser, drawings can be viewed in real-time on various devices, including tablets and PCs at each office, not just on tablets.
