Beyond the Korean Boom: From 'Experiencing Korea' to 'Learning Korea.'

In recent years, the number of Japanese visiting Korea has continued to increase, sparked by Korean dramas and K-POP. On the other hand, there is a growing need not just for sightseeing and shopping, but also to "understand Korea more deeply" and "learn about Korean lifestyle and culture."

Learning Korean cuisine is not just about memorizing recipes. It's about understanding gratitude towards those who grow the ingredients, receiving the blessings of nature, and feeling the connection with people gathered around the table. It's about experiencing the values and culture of the people who live in that land.

This program is a new form of "food culture study abroad" that allows participants to learn about Korean food culture and lifestyle with all five senses, distinct from cooking classes or tourist tours.

A Learning Ground for Korean Cuisine Culture Passed Down for Over 50 Years

The "Shim Yeong-soon Cuisine Institute" in Seoul is a prestigious institute that has been faithfully passing down authentic Korean home cooking and food culture for over 50 years. It has earned the long-term trust of many, including figures in Korean politics and business, and is known as a representative institution of Korean cuisine.

In this program, participants will learn Korean cuisine and food culture at this historic learning site under the direct guidance of Professor Jang Yoon-jung, who inherited the teachings of Professor Shim Yeong-soon.

Participants will learn more than just how to cook dishes:

- How to approach ingredients - Wisdom for incorporating the seasons into meals - The Korean spirit of sharing food with others

Both professors repeatedly emphasize, "Cooking is love."

It's about wishing for the health of loved ones, preparing the table, and cooking for someone. It's a learning experience that goes beyond acquiring recipes, touching upon the values and sentiments that breathe life into Korean cuisine.

Final Day: Visit Jeonju, the City of Korean Food Culture

On the final day, participants will visit Jeonju, a city renowned for its Korean food culture.

Participants will deepen their understanding of Korean food culture by experiencing not only cooking techniques but also the history, culture, and lifestyle inherited in the region.

Why have these ingredients been cherished in Korea?

Why does Korean cuisine have the power to connect people?

Why does the history and lifestyle of the land breathe life into each dish?

This "Journey to Learn Korea" will conclude with experiences only possible on-site.
