Capital Tokyo International School will hold its 2026 summer school at its Minami-Azabu campus (elementary) and Mita campus (middle school).
The program is divided into two five-day sessions: Session 1 from Monday, July 27 to Friday, July 31, and Session 2 from Monday, August 3 to Friday, August 7. The school is open to students from senior kindergarten to 8th grade, who will be grouped with peers of similar ages.
More than just an all-English environment, the program offers engaging lessons incorporating Project-Based Learning (PBL) to foster essential life skills, providing a unique CTIS experience.
Currently, there are openings in projects for students in grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8.
Like its regular classes, the CTIS summer school uses active learning to help students develop creative expression. The event is also open to non-CTIS students.
This year's summer school features an academic project on space for students from senior kindergarten to grade 4. Students from grade 5 to 8 will collaborate with a company on a project involving the development, design, and marketing of a matcha drink product. The content is designed for learning academic subjects in English in an enjoyable way.
Class Details
### For Senior Kindergarten to Grade 4 | Academic PBL Classes **SPACE PROJECT - Project-based learning on space science and engineering** - Session 1 | Our Solar System and the Universe - Session 2 | Space - Stations, Rockets, and Rovers!
In these two sessions, students will explore the wonders of the planets and the forefront of space exploration. In Session 1, they will scientifically analyze the planets of our solar system, learn their unique characteristics, and present creative ideas for living on a "planet of their choice." In Session 2, they will learn about the mechanics of rockets, rovers, and space stations, and design their own probe to solve real-world space challenges.
### For Grades 5 to 8 | Collaboration with Professionals & Companies **MATCHA CREATORS PROJECT - Your Matcha Drink for the World** - Session 1 | PRODUCT DESIGN: Produce a bestselling matcha product! - Session 2 | PROMOTION DESIGN: Explore how to captivate a global audience!
Focusing on "matcha," a product Japan is proud of, this project will guide students through product development and package design in Session 1. In Session 2, they will create ad copy for a target audience and experience video promotion. Students will tackle open-ended questions like, "What kind of product would make people overseas love matcha more?" and "How can we communicate its appeal to the world?" This is a student-led, problem-solving experience unique to CTIS, where they generate and communicate new value. The program aims to cultivate the ability to think from a business perspective in English, discover new value, and express creativity globally.
The collaborating company or store will be announced at a later date.
These lessons are conducted in the style of Project-Based Learning (PBL). Students will work collaboratively through discussions and group work to devise solutions to given challenges, culminating in a final presentation.
Afternoons will feature active lessons like parkour and classes for creative expression. Summer school participants can also join the after-school program (English-language daycare) after 14:30 for an additional fee.
