In recent years, corporate data utilization has expanded beyond simple aggregation and visualization to broader areas such as AI utilization, business process improvement, decision support, and enhancement of customer experience. On the other hand, to continuously utilize data in business and operations, it is essential not only to collect data but also to design systems that organize it into a reliable form, deliver it when needed, and maintain its operation.
Against this backdrop, the importance of data engineers, professionals who support data infrastructure, is increasing. However, the work of a data engineer is diverse, encompassing pipeline construction, data modeling, cloud data warehousing, orchestration, quality management, and coordination with organizations, making it an area where it is difficult to grasp the overall picture.
"Data Engineer's Textbook" organizes the matters that data engineers are involved in in practice and systematically explains the role of a data engineer, the components of data infrastructure, and the concepts of design, construction, and operation.
◼️ Features of this Book
This book covers a wide range of topics, from the origins and roles of the data engineer profession to the classification of data infrastructure, data pipelines, data modeling, data quality, data governance, orchestration, and the state of data infrastructure in the AI era.
Its characteristic is that it emphasizes concepts and judgment criteria that will be useful in the field for a long time, rather than being limited to the usage of specific tools.
The main contents are as follows:
- The overall picture of the data engineer's job - Concepts for designing, building, and operating data infrastructure - Fundamentals of data pipelines, data quality, and data modeling - Practical issues for continuously operating data infrastructure in the field - Concepts for data infrastructure that supports AI utilization
It can be used as an introductory book to understand the overall picture of data engineering not only for those who aspire to become data engineers but also for engineers already involved in data infrastructure and data utilization, data analysts, business departments, and managers.
