GOOD PLACE Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya, Tokyo; President: Shinji Miya), an architectural firm that creates "Better Places" through building renovation, office construction, and back-office outsourcing, issued its sustainability magazine "Susmore" vol.18 and published it on the corporate website in May 2026.
"Susmore" is an annual magazine that compiles the sustainability initiatives the company has undertaken through its business and internal activities.
### Key Highlights from 'Susmore' vol.18
#### Visualization of CO2 Emissions for FY2024 Since 2022, the company has implemented the "MORE SUSTAINABLE PROJECT" to calculate emissions across the entire supply chain. In FY2024, Scope 2 emissions (from electricity use) at the Tokyo headquarters decreased by approximately 20%. This was due to the reduction of one floor at the HQ, driven by the promotion of flexible work styles like remote work. While total emissions across all businesses increased to 20,039t (up from 13,513t in FY2023) due to an increase in large-scale new construction projects, the company noted that CO2 emissions from renovation projects are only about 25% of those from new construction for the same sales volume. The company aims to reduce total emissions by further promoting its renovation business.
#### 92.7% Employee Certification Rate for 'Eco Test' The company encourages employees to obtain the "Eco Test" (Environmental Specialist Test) to raise environmental awareness. In FY2025, 255 employees (92.7% of total staff) held the qualification. The Sustainability Promotion Office provided thorough support, including mock exams for candidates.
#### Green Building Certification Seminar On May 29, 2025, an online seminar on "Green Building Certification" was held for employees. Shiro Niuchi, Senior Advisor at Von Elf, was invited as a guest lecturer to discuss selecting certifications that align with GOOD PLACE's business characteristics and future environmental management directions.
#### Disaster Relief through 'SMILE CUP' Charity Event The charity futsal event "SMILE CUP," involving companies in the urban and space industries, was held in July and November 2025. A record 16 teams participated in Vol. 16. The funds raised were donated to the Japan Football Association (JFA) to support reconstruction efforts for the Noto Peninsula Earthquake.
#### Case Study: Koei Building Renovation Project The report features the "Koei Building," which underwent full common-area renovation at 50 years of age. GOOD PLACE handled design, construction, and PM, including creative reuse of existing marble for floor signage.
