JFD Engineering (Headquarters: Osaka, Osaka Prefecture; Representative Director and CEO: Keisuke Yoshida) participated as a speaker at the '3D Data and Point Cloud Usage Seminar: The Latest Surveying Technology for the Construction DX Era,' hosted by the Business Committee of the Tokyo Association of Architectural Firms on Friday, May 15, 2026.

This seminar was organized to explore the potential of 3D surveying and point cloud data against the backdrop of rising demand for renovation and reconstruction of existing buildings, the need for higher precision in design, construction, and maintenance, and the industry-wide push for labor shortages mitigation, operational efficiency, and BIM integration.

JFD Engineering has been working on surveying, point cloud data acquisition, modeling, and practical support for construction professionals using 3D laser scanners. At the seminar, the company shared the perspective of reframing 3D surveying not just as a 'measurement method,' but as the 'infrastructure of present-condition information' that supports building planning, design decisions, and construction management.

During the seminar, representatives from JFD Engineering presented in a three-part series, covering themes directly linked to construction practice. They emphasized that precision in understanding site conditions is crucial for quality in planning, design, and construction, especially for renovations, landscape planning, site condition verification, and analyzing relations with neighboring structures.

By leveraging 3D surveying and point cloud data, site conditions can be recorded three-dimensionally and objectively, leading to shared understanding among stakeholders and reducing rework in design and construction stages. JFD Engineering remains committed to supporting practical implementation for architectural firms, design offices, construction companies, housing manufacturers, and infrastructure-related businesses.

The event featured opening remarks by Mitsuo Osakabe, a Director at the Tokyo Association of Architectural Firms. Executives and staff from JFD Engineering, including Executive Officer Kenichiro Nakatani, Toi Fujisawa from the Sales Promotion Department, and CEO Keisuke Yoshida, presented on surveying technology history, practical business applications, and point cloud solutions. The event concluded with active Q&A sessions and discussions between participants and speakers.
