LegalNode, headquartered in Setagaya, Tokyo, and led by CEO Hitoshi Kawano, announced the launch of a beta version of its specialized M&A legal due diligence AI platform, 'LegalNode AI M&A System.' Starting mid-June 2026, it will be offered free of charge to 20 selected companies for a two-month period. This marks Japan's first provision of an MCP server dedicated to M&A legal DD.

This service enables companies to connect to their existing internal generative AI environments (such as ChatGPT or Claude) and invoke M&A legal DD expertise, validated by lawyers through real-world cases. It supports the creation of initial deliverables including project folder design, document organization, submission lists, legal issue tables, QA/hearing items, and legal investigation report drafts. In the company's internal trials, the time required for legal DD was reduced from approximately 10 person-days to 4 person-days by using this platform in conjunction with generative AI.

'LegalNode AI M&A System' operates as an AI agent platform that connects directly to the generative AI environments already in use within the company. Technically, it is provided as an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server—a secure mechanism for connecting AI to external professional tools. This streamlines tasks such as categorizing documents, organizing folders, and drafting initial legal reports. All outputs are considered preliminary drafts, and final legal judgments remain the responsibility of qualified legal professionals.

Target users include M&A intermediaries, financial advisors, PE funds, venture capitalists, and corporate M&A departments looking to internalize parts of their legal DD process. LegalNode's mission is to make M&A faster and more affordable. Following this launch, the company plans to provide additional expertise in domains such as financial and tax DD. Feedback from the beta phase will be used to prepare for a full-scale official launch scheduled within fiscal year 2026.

CEO Hitoshi Kawano remarked, 'We do not believe AI should replace lawyers. Instead, we want to create an environment where AI handles tasks like document sorting and drafting, allowing experts to concentrate on their essential work: assessing legal issues, evaluating risks, and advising their clients.'
