Driving Entertainment App 'CocoDrive!'
Nexgear Inc. (Headquarters: Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture; CEO: Takuma Matsunaga) has launched the driving entertainment app 'CocoDrive!' on the App Store starting Friday, July 10, 2026. Compatible with iPhone (iOS 18 and later), the app is available for free download.
CocoDrive! is a route-based application designed not just to record drives, but to make the driving experience itself more enjoyable. While driving, it automatically logs your route, distance, and time, gradually coloring in the roads you've traveled on a 'Conquered Map' of Japan. The app also features the 'Knowledge Guide,' which delivers fun local facts via voice and subtitles, and the 'Car Diary,' where your vehicle writes a daily journal after each drive.

Background of the Release
There are many people who genuinely enjoy the act of driving. For those who go on unplanned weekend drives or choose scenic detours, driving is not just a means of transportation—it's the journey itself that brings joy.
However, most existing driving apps focus on 'efficiency'—helping users reach their destination quickly and without getting lost—leaving a gap in services that enhance the actual pleasure of driving.
CocoDrive! was developed to fill this gap. It aims to be more than a temporary tool; it's an app that makes driving more fun every time you use it.
Main Features
Drive Log & Conquered Map: Record Every Road You've Driven
Drive logging screen. Tap 'Depart' to automatically record your route, distance, and driving time.
Select your vehicle and tap 'Depart' to start. GPS automatically records your route, distance, and time—no in-drive operation required. Tap a button to switch to 'Rest Mode' during breaks, allowing separate tracking of driving and resting time. Each drive is saved as one log, with the title automatically set based on origin and destination (e.g., 'Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture → Takashima City, Shiga Prefecture').
Conquered Map screen. Roads you've driven and prefectures you've passed through are colored in, with completion history viewable by prefecture.
Your nationwide driving history is visualized on the 'Conquered Map.' Roads you've driven appear overlaid on the map, and prefectures you've passed through are gradually colored in, making it easy to see where you've been and where you haven't. The log list displays total drive count, distance, and time. From the log details, you can generate a shareable card image summarizing the route, distance, and time, and post it directly to social media.
Drive Log screen. View your drive history and cumulative data to reflect on past drives.
Knowledge Guide: Fun Local Facts via Voice and Subtitles
Knowledge Guide mode screen. Location-based trivia is delivered via voice and subtitles, and can be reviewed after your drive.
As you drive, the app delivers fun facts about place name origins, landmarks, historical sites, and local specialties based on your current location.
The guide can be toggled on/off with a single button on the map screen. When audio is off, the guide text appears as subtitles, making it usable during conversations or in quiet environments.
Car Diary: Your Vehicle Writes a Daily Journal of Your Drive
Car registration and Car Diary screen. After each drive, your registered vehicle writes a journal entry.
Register your vehicle with make, model, and a nickname. The app supports not only cars but also motorcycles and bicycles. After each drive, your registered vehicle generates a daily journal based on that day's trip. The content is personalized using the vehicle's selected personality, distance, time, driver notes, and trivia heard during the drive—ensuring each entry is unique, even on the same route.
Future Developments
CocoDrive! will continue to receive regular updates, with plans to introduce CarPlay support, an Android version, and enhanced features for the Conquered Map and Knowledge Guide.
Additionally, the service aims to help users discover the charm of various regions across Japan. By making 'driving itself enjoyable,' it hopes to encourage regional exploration and contribute to local revitalization.
The company also plans to collaborate with local governments, tourism associations, and businesses on regional PR campaigns and partnerships.
