Carbon Neutral Niigata Co., Ltd., a special purpose company composed of Ohara Iron Works Co., Ltd., SBI Smart Energy Co., Ltd., Joetsu Material Co., Ltd., and NJS Co., Ltd., has completed the installation of solar power generation equipment at the Niigata Purification Center and commenced power supply on April 1, 2026.

1. Project Background and Purpose This project is an on-site PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) model project aimed at promoting the introduction of renewable energy by effectively utilizing unused land at sewage treatment facilities owned by Niigata Prefecture. This is the first case for a sewage treatment facility in Niigata Prefecture and contributes to the reduction of CO2 emissions from prefectural facilities as a project toward achieving '2050 Carbon Neutrality' promoted by the prefecture.

2. Environmental Contribution and Implementation Effects The annual estimated power generation from this project is expected to be approximately 868,000 kWh, with plans to reduce annual CO2 emissions by approximately 368 tons. Furthermore, since Carbon Neutral Niigata owns and maintains the equipment, Niigata Prefecture can use clean electricity stably over a long period without bearing initial investment or maintenance costs.
