New Tea Season Arrives! Ofuro Cafe Hareniwa no Yu to Hold "Matcha Workshop" Every Sunday in May, Featuring Matcha from Nishidaen Tea Shop in Kumagaya City's Menuma

Ofuro Cafe Hareniwa no Yu, a hot spring facility operated by Onsen Dojo Co., Ltd. (Tokigawa-machi, Hiki-gun, Saitama Prefecture; Representative Director: Toshiki Yamazaki), will hold a "Matcha Workshop" using matcha from the local tea shop "Nishidaen" in Menuma, Kumagaya City, in conjunction with the new tea season in May 2026.

In the pleasant season of new tea aroma, Hareniwa no Yu will support "Nishidaen," a beloved tea shop in local Kumagaya, and also provide an opportunity for guests to experience traditional Japanese culture.

After relaxing your body in the bath, the quiet act of preparing matcha is a rewarding time to calm your mind. Forget the hustle and bustle of daily life and relax your mind and body through a cup of tea.

<Matcha Workshop>

In this event, participants will use carefully selected matcha from Nishidaen and, under the guidance of staff, prepare matcha themselves using a chasen (bamboo whisk). Traditional Japanese sweets will also be provided.

Nobumitsu Kobayashi, the owner, who inherited the family business 30 years ago after training for six years at a Hasami ware wholesaler, runs one of the most popular tea shops in the city. He opened "Kogashiya Takeichi," a specialty hojicha shop, in 2018. It received the Judge's Special Encouragement Award in the Hojicha category at the Japan Tea Awards 2023. "Yukikuma" (shaved ice) made with tea is very popular at the shop.
