RURI Social Innovation, based in Ginza, Tokyo, is connecting Sri Lanka, a global hub for colored stones, directly with Japan to offer 'Cut to Order,' a service that allows customers to experience the process of turning raw stones into finished gemstones. The service will be available for pre-sale on Makuake starting May 29, 2026. RURI views gemstones not just as finished products, but as a creative art experience called 'Gem Life.' The project allows customers to select from 16 types of rare, large raw stones, such as 10ct purple spinel, and collaborate with local cutters and Japanese experts to create a one-of-a-kind gem. Each gemstone is accompanied by a 'Digital GEM,' which uses blockchain technology to verify quality and history. Additionally, the project features one-of-a-kind earrings crafted from the historic Jayawardene family collection.
