SHIFT Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Daisuke Tange; Prime Market: 3697; hereinafter 'SHIFT'), which supports customers in creating successful software services and products, will launch the 'Shiftmo Kids Summer School 2026'—a corporate-led initiative to proactively address the growing social issue of providing safe and meaningful spaces for children during summer vacation, exacerbated by extreme heat and the rise of dual-income households.
Since 2021, this initiative has been entirely planned, operated, and taught by SHIFT employees, who share their diverse skills and experiences as learning and experiential opportunities for children. It transforms the summer break—a period when the trade-off between 'work' and 'childcare' becomes most apparent—into a valuable space for learning and experience.
Shiftmo Kids Summer School 2025: Event Highlights
◆ 2026 Theme: 'Coexistence and Prosperity with AI' and 'Cultivating Humanity'
As a native AI company, SHIFT offers authentic AI/IT programs supervised by active engineers, giving children access to cutting-edge technologies. At the same time, the program emphasizes essential human skills in an AI-driven world: the ability to critically assess information, think independently, and collaborate with others. Through hands-on experiences, trial-and-error activities, and interpersonal communication, the school delivers a wide range of original courses designed to nurture 'humanity.'
The program is open to elementary school children of SHIFT Group employees. This year, it will run for 11 full days, offering eight-hour daily sessions from 9:00 to 18:15, aligning with parents’ full-time working hours, and featuring approximately 36 courses.
◆ Special Sports Program with 'Tokyo Verdy Parkour' to Address 'Too Hot to Play Outside'
According to SHIFT’s June 2026 survey on the real-life trade-offs between work and childcare during summer vacation, 'reduced outdoor play due to extreme heat' ranked as the second most common concern. In response to parents’ concerns about not being able to let children play outside due to heat, a special collaborative program with 'Tokyo Verdy Parkour' will be held on Tuesday, July 21, from 13:00 to 16:00.
The event will take place at the gymnasium of The British School in Tokyo, located in the same Azabudai Hills district and supporting local community development. Top-level athletes from Tokyo Verdy Parkour will lead a parkour experience session. In addition, popular pickleball, dance classes by a former theme park dancer, and children’s favorites like dodgeball and jump rope will be offered, providing a rare opportunity for kids to interact with athletes and freely move their bodies in a safe, engaging environment.
In the morning, children will attend a foundational 'AI Literacy' course, which teaches the basics needed to use AI wisely. They will also use the no-prompt AI generation tool 'Tensai-kun' to create their own summer goal achievement plans.
Since its launch in 2021, the 'Shiftmo Kids Summer School' has been passionately run by employees from diverse backgrounds—including engineers, sales staff, consultants, and back-office teams—who serve as organizers and instructors.
For children, the program offers a unique environment where they can experience cutting-edge AI/IT technologies and develop life skills within the 'society' of their parents’ workplace. For working parents, summer vacation becomes a special time when 'working at SHIFT allows me to give my child a unique experience' and 'show my child the inspiring side of working.' For employee-instructors, sharing their knowledge and experience with children becomes an opportunity to refine their communication and empathy skills, deepening their pride and attachment to the company.
Going forward, SHIFT will continue to connect employees’ expertise and passion with the next generation, striving to create value not only for employees and their families but for society as a whole—ensuring that 'working at SHIFT' brings value to employees’ families as well.
