Solafune Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Ren Uechi; hereinafter referred to as Solafune) has signed a contract with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Togo Country Office on June 16, 2026, for the "Monitoring and Predictive Analysis Utilization Project for Climate-Adaptive Agriculture" in the Togolese Republic (hereinafter referred to as Togo).

*PNUD is the French acronym for UNDP (United Nations Development Programme).

This project will be implemented in cooperation with the UNDP Togo Country Office (Resident Representative Binta Sanneh), with the support of the Embassy of Japan in Côte d'Ivoire (Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Junji Komakubo), which concurrently covers Togo.

In this project, Solafune's satellite data analysis technology and AI will be utilized to support the Togolese government in enhancing decision-making in the fields of agriculture, disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, natural resource management, and food security. By developing an agricultural land database using high-resolution hyperspectral satellite data, and through analysis of crop identification, yield estimation, harvest outlook, and disaster risk, the project aims to strengthen the resilience of regions vulnerable to climate change.

In Togo, agriculture is a key sector supporting the economy and employment. However, the livelihoods of local residents who depend on agricultural production are severely threatened by floods, droughts, and irregular rainfall caused by recent climate change impacts. This project aims to enhance the responsiveness of local organizations based on data, promote community cohesion, and contribute to strengthening community resilience in the face of these challenges.

Furthermore, this initiative is positioned as an effort that leverages Japanese technology and expertise to contribute to Africa's sustainable development, inclusive growth, and enhanced climate resilience, which are priorities of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD).

Solafune will utilize its technology, knowledge, and human resources, in collaboration with the UNDP Togo Country Office, the Togolese Ministry of Agriculture, and relevant organizations such as the Emergency Program for Strengthening Resilience in the Savanes Region (PURS) in northern Togo, to contribute to sustainable and inclusive development in Togo.
