Spatial Pleasure Inc. (Headquarters: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Sohma Suzuki; hereinafter "the Company") announces the establishment of "MASA (Mobility Alliance for Sustainable Abundance)," a cross-industry consortium aimed at the issuance and circulation of environmental value in the mobility sector, on July 9, 2026.

At launch, MASA includes 17 corporate members (including mobility operators, shippers, end-users, and financial institutions) and 8 advisory members (university researchers in transportation and environmental fields). Together, they will jointly verify methods for issuing and circulating environmental value—including insets, offsets, and GX-ETS compliance for Scope 3 (value chain emissions) reduction—and share insights grounded in real-world operational knowledge.

Background of Establishment

With the full-scale operation of GX-ETS, enhanced Scope 3 disclosure requirements, and rising societal demand for green logistics, both shippers and mobility operators are increasingly required to visualize, reduce, and prove the results of transport-related CO₂ emissions.

However, the mobility and logistics sector has a structural characteristic where the entity implementing emission reduction measures (operators) differs from the beneficiaries (shippers and end-users). How to convert reduction efforts into economic value and fairly distribute it across value chain players has become the industry’s most critical challenge.

MASA launches as a co-creation platform to address this challenge through three approaches: verification of environmental value issuance and circulation methods (such as insets), development of methodologies, and dissemination of insights.

MASA’s Activities

MASA will operate around three core pillars:

1. Verification of Environmental Value Issuance and Circulation Methods — Assessing the feasibility of establishing systems that allow emission reduction achievements in the mobility sector to be issued and traded as environmental value among member companies. This includes applications for insets (emission reductions within Scope 3/value chain emissions), offsets (voluntary credits, J-Credits, JCM, etc.), and GX-ETS compliance.

2. Dissemination of Insights — Continuously sharing primary data, policy developments (domestic and international), advanced case studies, and quantitative data on decarbonization in mobility and logistics to provide actionable knowledge for industry, government, and end-user decision-making.

3. Methodology Development — Collaboratively developing and proposing practical, implementable methods with member companies and academia to establish methodologies for issuing, attributing, and transferring emission reduction achievements in the mobility sector as environmental value.
