The Money Exchangers Association, the Precious Metals Appraisal Organization, and SpicyCompany, Inc. will launch full-scale initiatives aimed at the proper appraisal, certification, and revitalization of circulation for gold ingots currently held in Japan, following the feature article "The Big Wave of Gold Smuggling Crackdown" published in the July 11th issue of Toyo Keizai.

Currently, gold prices are at historic highs. On the other hand, for foreign-made gold ingots purchased 20 to 30 years ago, purchase rejections or significant reductions in appraisal value are occurring due to the absence of original receipts or proof of purchase.

At that time, cash transactions and physical delivery were common, and purchase certificates were not always issued or kept. Despite this, the current buying market has created a situation where "no documents means it cannot be sold."

This is not merely a buying dispute.

It is a structural problem where the circulation of gold assets dormant in Japan is blocked, making it difficult for legitimate owners to convert their assets into cash.

The Toyo Keizai article also introduced an industry insider's view that the value of gold held in Japan amounts to approximately 4 trillion yen at current market prices. If these assets were to circulate properly in the market, significant ripple effects could be expected for individual assets, inheritance and business succession, domestic consumption, and the regional economy.

The Money Exchangers Association and the Precious Metals Appraisal Organization have established consultation services for individuals who are having trouble selling their gold ingots.

Furthermore, the Precious Metals Appraisal Organization is working to create a system that comprehensively verifies the authenticity, brand, manufacturing period, ownership history, and circulation potential of gold ingots, leading to proper appraisal, purchase, and circulation.

SpicyCompany, Inc., in collaboration with the Money Exchangers Association and the Precious Metals Appraisal Organization, will promote the revitalization of circulation for gold ingots dormant in Japan.

We do not deny the importance of anti-smuggling measures. Smuggling should be strictly controlled.

However, it is a significant loss for Japan's asset market when gold ingots legally purchased 20 to 30 years ago become difficult to sell due to changes in regulations or the market.

Transforming "unsellable gold" into "properly valued assets."

The Money Exchangers Association, the Precious Metals Appraisal Organization, and SpicyCompany will work to revitalize the circulation of dormant gold ingots and promote the sound development of Japan's gold market.
