JAPAN EDITION (Japan Edition), a select shop specializing in Japanese craftsmanship operated by TOKYO BASE Co., Ltd. (CEO: Masato Tani, headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo), will open its flagship street-level store on Namiki-dori in Ginza on Thursday, July 16, 2026.

JAPAN EDITION is a select shop that re-edits traditional techniques, premium materials, and artisanal craftsmanship from across Japan through a contemporary lens, delivering them beyond the boundaries of fashion, craft, and lifestyle to audiences both domestically and internationally.

The newly opened Ginza Namiki-dori store serves as the flagship location for a brand that communicates Japanese craftsmanship to the world from Ginza, one of Japan’s most iconic luxury districts. The store will feature carefully curated products from across the country and act as a hub to deliver the charm of Japanese craftsmanship to customers at home and abroad through exclusive in-store experiences and limited-edition items.

To commemorate the opening, a special project has been launched in collaboration with two brands: YAMANE INDUSTRIES, which boasts a passionate global fanbase, and gold, operated by Toyo Enterprises. Special items have been created, leveraging each brand’s solid production heritage and craftsmanship, and will be available for purchase at the Ginza store.

Through this unique collaboration with leading Japanese makers—only possible because of JAPAN EDITION—we will continue to deliver new value from Ginza to the world.

Interior and Exterior Design The design supervision was led by Kamiya Architects, headed by Shuhei Kamiya.

Comment from Mr. Kamiya: "At JAPAN EDITION Ginza, we re-edited Japanese architecture within the context of Ginza. For the façade, we used denim-colored roof tiles and lanterns to evoke memories of traditional Japanese streetscapes and commerce. The first floor is a store space guided by light, while the basement evokes the traditional 'kura' (storehouse) once common in Ginza, creating a warm, shadow-rich environment. This is a store where visitors can experience the world of JAPAN EDITION within the urban fabric of Ginza."

Shuhei Kamiya: SHUHEI KAMIYA Architect & Creative Director Studied under Kengo Kuma and Bjarke Ingels (BIG), and founded Kamiya Architects in 2017. He works across architecture, interiors, retail spaces, and design direction, transforming the value of land and brands into spatial experiences. Specializing in integrated designs that harmonize materials, light, circulation, and user experience, he has worked on diverse projects including hotels, commercial spaces, residences, and cultural facilities. Notable works include "Kudan House," "Kaji Residence in Hayama," and "Hoshino Resorts KAI Zao" (scheduled to open in 2026).
