WataSelica Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Masatoshi Akabane) announced that it will begin offering a jewelry processing plan for its 'Pearl Memory' service, which creates pearls using the cremated remains of the deceased as a nucleus, starting May 28, 2026. The plan allows customers to choose from three jewelry types: pin brooches, pendant tops, and stud earrings. The service aims to help families feel closer to their loved ones by wearing the pearls daily, thereby naturally increasing opportunities for grief care and remembrance.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, the number of deaths in Japan reached a record high in 2024. As the number of deaths increases, the importance of mental support for bereaved families (grief care) is rising. The funeral business market is also expanding, and while small-scale funerals such as family funerals are becoming mainstream, there is a growing demand for high-value-added memorial services that honor the individuality of the deceased.

Pearl Memory is a service that cultures Akoya pearls by enclosing the remains of the deceased within the nucleus, utilizing the skills of master craftsmen. For the new jewelry plan, the company has partnered with 'Cadensia & Conciel,' a brand specializing in jewelry reform and custom-made pieces, to ensure high-quality craftsmanship. Prices (including tax) are 396,000 JPY for pin brooches, 451,000 JPY for pendant tops, and 528,000 JPY for stud earrings.
