Summit Overview and Exhibition Details
Wildlife Ventures Inc. (hereinafter referred to as "our company") will participate in the "Global Nature Positive Summit 2026" to be held at Kumamoto Castle Hall from July 14 (Tue) to 15 (Wed), 2026.
The Summit is an international conference held with the aim of sharing global initiatives towards achieving nature positivity and accelerating cross-sector collaboration and implementation. Companies, financial institutions, local governments, research institutions, and civil society will gather to promote concrete actions and collaborations towards achieving "nature positivity," which aims to halt nature loss by 2030 and begin its recovery.
Wildlife Ventures will conduct a poster exhibition and presentation at the IUCN booth within the "NATURE TECH!" exhibition hall, a special project of the Summit, on July 14, 2026 (Tue) from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM. Our company's vision is to balance biodiversity conservation with human activities, and we are currently operating a business in the nature reserves of Masai Mara, Kenya. Our presentation will introduce the beekeeping business that we have been demonstrating on the ground in Kenya to resolve conflicts between local residents and wild elephants. Furthermore, as practitioners operating on the ground, we will share insights on building businesses, community engagement, and international cooperation to achieve nature positivity, exploring new possibilities for collaboration between Japan and Africa in nature conservation.
On-site Knowledge for Nature Positive Implementation
Achieving nature positivity requires not only protecting nature but also designing its integration with the lives and economic activities of local communities living alongside it.
In the Masai Mara region of Kenya, where our company operates, elephants sometimes enter human settlements and agricultural areas, causing damage to crops and posing risks to human safety. This can lead to residents retaliating against elephants. The elephants inhabiting Kenya are African elephants, designated as an endangered species, and such conflicts with local residents have a critical impact on the species' survival.
Our company is engaged in the "Beehive Fence Project," which utilizes the fact that elephants are repelled by bees. By installing beehives around agricultural land, we aim to prevent elephants from entering these areas. This initiative not only prevents damage from human-elephant contact but also aims to create employment and income opportunities for local residents by selling honey produced through beekeeping. A key feature is redesigning nature conservation not as a burden for local residents, but as an opportunity to support their livelihoods.
Through grounded, on-site activities, our company aims to build business models that achieve nature positivity. By participating in this Summit, we hope to not only share the knowledge gained from conservation sites in Africa in an international forum but also to discuss with various stakeholders what business models, as operators, can promote the realization of "nature positivity," and what kind of collaborations with companies, research institutions, and local governments can contribute to the development of such practical models.
