The Kiryu Festival Executive Committee will hold the inaugural 'KIRYU FESTIVAL 2026 MUSIC & CULTURE,' an outdoor music festival based on the concept of a 'Music & Craft Culture Festival,' for two days on June 6 (Sat) and June 7 (Sun), 2026, in Kiryu City, Gunma Prefecture.
Located in the southeastern part of Gunma Prefecture, Kiryu City is a town with a history of textile manufacturing so significant that it has long been referred to as 'Nishijin of the West, Kiryu of the East,' and it has produced many prominent apparel designers. Kiryu is also known for the 'Kiryu Yagibushi Festival,' one of the largest summer festivals in Northern Kanto, which attracts approximately 500,000 visitors and combines the traditional 'Kiryu Gion Festival' with the dancing and performance of the local folk song 'Kiryu Yagibushi.'
'KIRYU FESTIVAL 2026 MUSIC & CULTURE' is produced by 'GREENROOM CO.,' a creative production company that handles various cultural festivals, including the GREENROOM FESTIVAL, which has been held in Yokohama for 20 years.
The festival will fuse Kiryu City's iconic content, such as the Yagibushi Festival and local culture, with a music festival featuring over 10 guest musicians and DJs active at the top of the domestic scene. It is a 'Regional Creation' project that collaborates with local residents, businesses, and shops to build the community, enjoy music and space, and play a melody for the future of tourism in Kiryu City.
The venue is 'Shinkawa Park,' an urban park located in Inari-cho, Kiryu City. The site is the former location of the Kiryu Shinkawa Baseball Stadium, which was certified as one of the 150 sacred sites and landmarks of Japanese baseball. Boasting excellent accessibility—just about two hours from Tokyo—the park is a nature-rich venue surrounded by vast green lawns, waterfall sculptures, and ponds, where one can feel both 'greenery' and 'water.' In this space, we will create a free and euphoric environment where the culture of Kiryu City and music merge.
Announcements regarding the first wave of performing artists and ticket sales information are scheduled to be released sequentially starting around mid-April 2026 via the official website (http://kiryufestival.jp/) and official social media channels. Please stay tuned for further updates on 'KIRYU FESTIVAL 2026,' which will bring together artists from a wide variety of genres active in the domestic top scene and become a new tourism asset for Kiryu City.
